At the end of October, VIA MUSICA, the network of musical virtualities, strengthens its presence in Europe and its transdisciplinary field of action by welcoming two new members in the field of education and technology. They are the School of Robotics and the Casa Paganini - Infomus, both located in Genoa (Italy).
"It is with great joy that the CEM welcomes within the great VIA MUSICA Network, two prestigious institutions which, for a long time, have been carrying out remarkable research work around music: Casa Paganini and the School of Robotics. Niccolò Paganini, a virtuoso among virtuosos, now sees his name attached to a Scientific Research Center in his native city, proving the innumerable virtualities of music. The renowned School of Robotics at the University of Genoa is also at the forefront of research into music and its benefits," says Jorge Chaminé, founding president of the Centre Européen de Musique, which initiated VIA MUSICA.
"We at the Centre Européen de Musique are proud that our VIA MUSICA is today a true pan-European constellation - and beyond - proving how much Music is the link of links but also of the need to install its virtuous generosity at the heart of transdisciplinarity and living together," he adds. A transdisciplinarity that will be able to express itself even more strongly with the launch of new projects combining music and new technologies.
Casa Paganini - InfoMus , Università degli Studi di Genova
Casa Paganini, founded in 1984, conducts scientific and technological research, develops multimedia systems, multimodal human-machine interfaces and applications. The research carried out by this institution is mainly focused on the understanding and development of computational models of non-verbal expressive and social behaviour. The cross-fertilisation of scientific, humanistic and artistic theories characterises the research methodology. From 1997 to 2004, InfoMus Lab worked with the Opera of Genoa - Teatro Carlo Felice, organising joint activities. The institution also designed and developed the multimedia software platform EyesWeb. This tool has been adopted by thousands of users worldwide for scientific research, education and industrial applications. EyesWeb was selected by INTEL in 2008 for its hardware for "independent living".
The Genoa School of Robotics in Italy is a non-profit association that aims, among other things, to promote a conscious and reasoned image of robotics and new technologies.
The School of Robotics (la Scuola di Robotica) is a non-profit association founded in 2000 by a group of researchers in robotics and humanities with the aim of promoting the conscious and reasoned use of robotics and new technologies. The association has become a national and international reference in many robotics research and application activities. This is the case in the most varied sectors of society, such as education, ecology and disability. The Scuola di Robotica is a partner in many European projects and, since 2009, it has been certified as a training organisation by the Ministry of Education, University and Research for the updating of teaching staff.
