The French violinist Gaëtane Prouvost becomes a member of the CEM's honorary committee. For the woman who describes herself as the heir to the renowned Franco-Belgian school: "Supporting the CEM's mission is in line with my recordings, some of which are devoted to French music: Farrenc, Pierné, d'Indy...".
"I consider it an honour to be part of this great family of the CEM, as I am aware of the European influence of Parisian artistic life during this particularly fruitful period", explains the violinist trained in Paris by Roland Charmy and Jean Hubeau, who joined Ivan Galamian at the Juilliard School like many contemporary virtuosos. "I share the tourist and cultural ambition of the CEM which, through new structures, will restore to this exceptional site of Bougival its original calm which favoured meetings between artists. A modernity that aims to restore tradition. Bringing back to life the European spirit of Pauline Viardot and her circle of intimates is an exciting project for which you can count on my support," adds Gaëtane Prouvost, whose true master will be Zino Francescatti, one of the great violinists of the previous century and heir to Paganini's technique. She has written a biography of him, published by L'Harmattan, and a CD of his original compositions and transcriptions, published by L'Empreinte Digitale.
GREIF QUADRUPLE CONCERTO "LA DANSE DES MORTS" Orchestre symphonique de DOUAI Gaëtane Prouvost, Violon Emmanuelle Bertrand, violoncelle Su Shen, alto Pascal Amoyel, piano Jean-Jacques Kantorow, direction.
On the occasion of the centenary of Gabriel Fauré's death in 2024, Gaëtane Prouvost's next CD 'will illustrate the music of his disciples when he was their teacher at the Paris Conservatoire, notably composers such as Ravel, Enesco and Lili Boulanger'.
She is the dedicatee of numerous contemporary works, including the Concerto by Rémi Goussseau, the Concerto by Michel Rateau, the Sonata and Variations by Olivier Greif, and is a frequent guest of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, where she plays under the direction of Kent Nagano, Gary Bertini and Pierre Boulez. Chosen by Olivier Messiaën, she performed the Quartet for the End of Time at its premiere in the USSR. With the Prague Camerata Bohemiana orchestra and under his direction, she created in 2015 the concerto dedicated to her by Rémi Gousseau.
As a guest professor at the Prague Academy and Conservatory, she regularly gives master classes, particularly on French music. Passionate about chamber music, she works with the best musicians such as Abdel Rahman el Bacha, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Pascal Amoyel, Laurent Cabasso, Emmanuel Ceysson, Valérie Aimard, Jean Paul Sevilla, Damien Lehman, Jun Kanno, the Enesco Quartet, Yovan Markovitch...
Each of his recordings has been acclaimed by the critics, and his sonatas for violin and piano by Prokofiev with Abdel Rahman El Bacha have received the best awards from Gramophone magazine and the Choc du Monde de la Musique. With Marie-Christine Barrault, Gaëtane Prouvost put on a show entitled "Vol de Nuit", based on texts by Antoine de Saint Exupéry. Her show Impressions de Music-Hall for violin and piano with clown accompaniment was a great success.
With the duo Vents d'Est, consisting of a violin and a cymbalum, Gaëtane Prouvost, together with Cyril Dupuy, contributes to the development of a repertoire ranging from Brahms, Bartok, Ravel to contemporary works. A piece was commissioned from the composer Pierre-Alain Braye Weppe.
She recorded with Laurent Cabasso the complete chamber music of Gabriel Pierné as well as the works of Louise Farrenc, two CDs that received awards from the specialist press. Her latest recording with Eliane Reyes at the piano is devoted to the Franco-Belgian school: sonatas by Vincent d'Indy, Ermend Bonnal and Albert Dupuis. This recording is one of the five nominees of the ''Octaves de la Musique 2021'', the equivalent of the Victoires de la Musique in Belgium. His next recording is devoted to "Gabriel Fauré and his friends": Ravel and Enesco. It was recorded with Dana Cioccarlie and Mara Dobrescu and will be released in June 2023 for the EnPhases label.
Alongside Brigitte Fossey (herself a member of the Centre Européen de Musique's honorary committee) and Dana Cioccarlie, the violinist is preparing a show based on Alma Mahler's diary and the music of the composers she knew or loved: Wagner, Mahler, Strauss, Korngold and Ravel.
