The programming of the Villa Viardot also involves joint work with the Bougival town council and local associations: the Association of Friends of Ivan Tourguéniev, Pauline Viardot and Maria Malibran, and the Association of Friends of Georges Bizet, co-founded by Jorge Chaminé and Benita Carteron.

Revealed by William Turner around 1830, the site of Bougival quickly became one of the birthplaces of Impressionism, painted by Alfred Sisley, Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Berthe Morisot, Camille Pissarro, Edouard Manet and many others. Bougival then became a popular holiday resort for Parisians, where many artists and intellectuals of the time resided.
The singer and composer Pauline García Viardot and her husband Louis Viardot, great friends of Ivan Tourgueniev, who lived in Bougival from 1870 to 1884, created a cultural hub with their villa. This music and literature salon of the Domaine des Frênes has been visited by Charles Gounod, Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Fauré, Gustave Flaubert, Emile Zola, Alexandre Dumas father and son, Victor Hugo, Henry James and Charles Dickens, amongst others.
This salon inspired a dialogue between disciplines and created the outline of a European consciousness, enhanced by passionate conversations between artists and intellectuals engaged in social and political action at the time.
